Hello, My name is Tai-Chi

I graduated from Mitchell’s Hair Academy in 2014, here in Raleigh, NC. Unfortunately, after 50 years of service the family owned institution shut down in 2025.

I am a Licensed Cosmetologist, I am not a braider, nor do I have my Natural Hair Care Certification.

My father was a barber by trade, my grandmother and her siblings own a barber salon in Baltimore, MD and in Norfolk, VA. I have always been around hair, my mother taught me how to braid when I was 9. I started training in a salon as an assistant in 2007. Worked multiple jobs that crafted my professionalism, from retail, to call centers, to in-home health care over the years. In 2013 my grandmother transitioned, and I enrolled in hair school. She advised me that the thing I love doing the most without thought was the thing I needed to pursue whole heartily.

By the time I graduated in 2014, I worked in a corporate salon for 3 years receiving training in color and express haircuts techniques. I branched out on my own in 2017 until I had my 1st child. took a break for 2 years. I’ve worked in 5 different salon’s in Raleigh since then, after giving Amazon all I had during covid, I realized that I missed being behind the chair enjoying my passion. I came back full time in March of 2021 and I have been so grateful for my loyal, faithful and patient clients over the years. Thank you for pushing me and challenging me to be who I am today.
